The atmosphere is great and the quests and NPC dialogues are good. You will find gg items but you are rewarded for being patient. Uniques and rares would likely be your first good items but you can find extremely useful items of any type and quality.
The itemisation in D2 is deep and when you craft, gamble, find or trade an amazing item it feels very rewarding. For example, when you’re walking your defence and block are fully applied but when you’re running defence is 0 and block chance is reduced by about 1/3 that’s just one example out of quite a few but once you learn them you feel like you’ve unlocked some fun knowledge.
There are a lot of gameplay mechanics that aren’t obvious as well and the game never explicitly tells you.
D2 is an amazing game but it’s harder, and you won’t be given as much.
